Joan P. Capuzzi, VMD holds BA and veterinary degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and has worked in small animal practice in the Philadelphia area for 20 years.

A journalist as well, she has written for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Time Magazine, Business Philadelphia, Dog Fancy and Dog World, among others; she also wrote a book (Puppies, Globe Pequot Press 2010). Joan sits on several college and community boards, has a special interest in public health and animal welfare, and is involved with several organizations whose missions are to improve the lives of domesticated - and wild - animals. The mother of two children in college, she lives in Radnor, Pennsylvania with three dogs and a rabbit. In her free time, she enjoys the beach, skiing and horsebackriding.
